How did you get started?

My fitness journey started about 1 year ago when I decided to make a major lifestyle change. I used to be unhappy, not motivated, and always cared about what other people thought of me. I would get discouraged by the smallest things and was always struggling to find happiness. I decided to make fitness and eating healthy a lifestyle from seeing all the other beautiful, empowering women on Instagram. Ever since then my attitude towards life has completely changed. I am now strong and confident both physically and mentally and don’t care about what others think of me. Most importantly, I’ve realized that happiness is not something you chase or find, it’s something you create!

Where Does Your Motivation Come From?

A majority of my motivation comes from within myself. I am always looking to improve myself as a person and be the best version of myself I can be, whether that’s through with fitness, increasing my skill set, or growing my character. I am always looking for ways to improve myself and my quality of life. I also get motivated by seeing other like minded people doing what they love and following their passions. Sometimes a lot of my motivation comes from social media.

How do you feel your flexibility helps you both in and out of the gym?

I am not a very flexible person and this is definitely something I need to work on!

What workout routine has worked best for you?

I’m always changing up my workouts to keep my body and heart guessing! Your body wont change unless you constantly introduce it to new workouts and new exercises, so I usually mix up my workouts with weight training and high intensity interval training (HIIT). Even within weight training and HIIT, I always change the exercises and never stick to a simple repetitive routine.

If you had to pick only three exercises what would they be and why?

1. Squats: I feel the strongest when I squat with weights. Squats also burn tons of calories and use pretty much your entire body!
2. Sprints on the Treadmill with Incline: I love sprints on an incline! It’s tough and gets me sweating a ton! It’s a great way to burn fat fast and I’m in the best mood afterwards!
3. Stair Master: This cardio machine also gets me sweating waterfalls! It’s an exercise to listen to music to and allows me to reflect on my day or whatever else is on my mind! It also puts me in a good mood afterwards.

What is your diet like?

My diet consists of lean protein, whole foods, and lots of water! I eat as healthy and as clean as I can, eliminating any sugar and processed foods. And of course I have a few cheat meals here and there!

What’s the one food you can’t live without and how do you handle cravings?

There honestly isn’t any one food I can’t live without. I love all foods and eat almost everything! I have a few methods of how I handle cravings. I’ll either drink an entire glass of water, eat a small piece of dark chocolate, or eat a cup of fruits. If my craving is really bad, I’ll think about how it’s not necessary for me to eat it, I’ll think about how it will not benefit me, and basically keep thinking about it until I’ve convinced myself that I DON’T need it. BUT caving into your cravings is TOTALLY OKAY and NORMAL in moderation!
