How did I get started?
Last year on 13 th august 2015, I came back from office. I was really tired and stressed out. I was munching on to a packet of chips and was feeling extremely depressed as I was going through a lot in my life. I told my mom that I guess I need some alone time and want to go for a walk.It was past 8pm and my mom was like there is a gym opened nearby a week back, go there instead as it’s too dark outside. I didn’t have a workout gear that time.i went in my pyajamas and walked on the treadmill for the first time. It was so painful but I didn’t stop cause it was helping me overcome the pain that I was suffering cause of issues in my life and now here I am after a year and working out has made me a happier and a positive person and made me realize the importance of fitness.:)
Where did my motivation come from?
To be honest being demotivated in life was enough motivation to do something. I knew my potential but wasn’t working towards it. I just needed a push and that happened the day when I was way too depressed.
How do I feel my flexibility helps me both in and outside the gym?
I have been into dancing all my life and that has made me discover new things that my body could do but by hitting the gym I realized that my flexibility has increased and it helps me perform my workouts more effectively. Also, I guess my body posture has improved.
What workout routine has worked best for me?
I used to hit the gym during evening cause of a busy schedule and I used to start with my cardio and then used to do weight lifting. It has helped me a lot to get into shape.
If I had to pick 3 exercises, what they would be and why?
Plank- it helps me tighten my core and gives me a better posture
Burpees-beat exercise to warm up my body very effectively in just 2 minutes
Squats- cause they are very challenging as I perform body posture plus increases my strength too. Different types of squats plus while doing squats my upper body (the core area basically) and my lower body both are involved.
What’s my diet like?
I always drink 3 glasses of warm water with lemon and ginger when I wake up.I am doing this for 4 years now. I try and eat clean 6 days a week and have 2 cheat meals per week. This keeps me in check. I prefer having 2 cheat meals per week than having just one whole cheat day.
What’s on food I cant live without and how do I control cravings?
Chicken biryani is one food I cant live without.I need it every week or every alternate week. I am make sure that I cook that in olive oil and put less masalas. Also,the only way I control my cravings is by finding healthy alternatives for everything. For example, I have a sweet tooth and I love icecreams so now I make fresh fruit icecreams with whey protein at home. I love experimenting with food and make it as healthy as possible.
What’s something that many people don’t know about me?
So many people think that I am just into fitness and that’s why I get the time to hit the gym but the answer is no. I am a finance student and going to be a chartered accountant soon. I have got long study hours and it’s kind of tough for me to find time but I believe that if it’s important to you, you will make time for it and for me health is wealth.So no matter what, I try and remain fit.
