How did you get started?

I had always been a fat kid. I had never known what a healthy body felt like , when I graduated and was doing my Masters I met with an accident and during the recovery phase I had put on a lot of weight . I had reached 110 kgs during that time ( my highest weight ) , hence I started having  Knee and back issues . I suddenly realised that If i don’t lose weight , my health condition will start deteriorating  . It was then when I met my husband who is a fitness consultant , he explained me the importance of weight training and healthy diet . Since then I started my journey and it is still going strong each day and now hit’s my passion and my profession.

 Where does your motivation come from?

I am married to  one of the best fitness consultant Mr. Nikhil Patil , I have no options but to be motivated all the time . Apart from that I enjoy weight training . If I don’t workout for a few days , I have observed mood swings . So for me workout and healthy diet is part of life. I don’t think that I am doing something extra , it’s like breathing .

How do you feel your flexibility helps you both in and out of the gym?

Flexibility is extremely important . Once a person starts doing weight training , because the muscle mass increases the body becomes stiff and if you are not flexible then you will be prone to injuries . Injuries are the last thing you would want. Everyday after my Weight training and cardio , I dedicate a good half an hr for stretches .
Flexibility is not only important inside but outside the gym as well . Most of us have a desk job , so our muscle contracts and a small wrong move results in injuries.

 What workout routine has worked best for you?

Alternate days weight training and cardio with everyday stretches is what I swear by .
Weight training increases your muscle mass which is necessary to increase your BMR and cardio is required for strengthening your heart muscles so that it will help you in your weight training . Lastly stretches are important for your overall flexibility .
One should be aware of why he/she is following certain kind of regime instead of following it blindly.

If you had to pick only 3 exercises what would they be and why?

The three exercises would be
Squats
Deadlift
Bench press
I choose the above three exercises because they all are power movements . These exercises involve the maximum muscles.

What is your diet like?

 I follow a very low to no carb diet. My diet mainly consist of fat and protein .
7. What’s the one food you couldn’t live without, and how do you handle food cravings?
Ans: I hail from a Bengali family . So sweets have always been a major part of my diet and that’s the only thing I crave for .
To curb the craving I sometimes make desserts with sugar substitute like stevia.

 What’s something not many people know about you?

I can eat a whole human being , jokes apart I am a big foodie and I can eat a lot which people don’t believe .
