How did you get started?

I have always been active throughout my life but never skinny or fit. I started going to the gym 12 years ago but I had no clue about fitness. I would just do a little bit of running & come back feeling great. I thought this much was enough. People around me were losing weight like it was the easiest thing to do & the only thing I was losing was my mind. I would always dream of getting a sexy body but obviously it was not happening so I guess I gave up. Like I said I had no clue about fitness at that time. I just wanted to lose weight & become skinny. It was somewhere in 2009 that I was at my heaviest despite doing some moderate exercises. I was getting frustrated and that’s when I decided to take things in my own hand. Initially I started with this madness of losing Kgs & checking my weight every now & then but as I progressed with my fitness journey & started understanding & accepting my body, my fitness goals changed – I just wanted to be FIT.

Where does your motivation come from?

Honestly I don’t know. I guess its become a habit of sorts. Like many women out there I too suffered from Distorted Body Image issue for a very long time. I never loved my body & would keep criticizing it and have unrealistic expectations. It went on for a very long time. I suffered from it as recently as 2011 – 2012. I am not very sure how & When exactly my mindset changed. I think I had been working very hard on myself and sometimes I would punish myself for not being able to see results as I wanted to. I sort of broke down in despair. I didn’t know what to do. I remember losing it on my trainer too. And then something strange started happening. I started receiving compliments for my body. I started receiving appreciation for my stamina and my workouts. People would actually walk up to me and say nicest things about me motivating them to push themselves & be fit. I couldn’t believe it. Were they talking about me?? That’s actually when i started feeling ashamed of myself for being so damn cruel to my body. My Body had started showing changes but I was so mad at it all the time that I had failed to see it. I think that changed my outlook. I started feeling thankful towards it. I started appreciating it. I actually started loving it and felt proud of what I had achieved. I am not lying nor am I giving any motivational speech but that’s when my body started responding better. I could feel it changing. i could see my stamina increasing & I started feeling stronger. I realized one thing that this is how it is. If I do not have visible collar bones I just don’t have them. If my back is wider that is how it is. If I am broad boned that’s how I am. I can NOT change these things about me. I have to accept them and work around my flaws. I accepted my body the way it is and like I said changed my goals. I now wanted to be the FITTEST Badass. Strong not skinny. Period!!

How do you feel your flexibility helps you both in and out of the gym?

TBH I am not very flexible. I can see it in my stretches so I did try Yoga in between but I guess it was too slow & boring for me but yeah fitness has its own advantages. I guess it makes me more alert, active & agile.

What workout routine has worked best for you?

I love HIIT. So a bit of Crossfit &; a bit of Functional with some HIIT Cardio works for me

If you had to pick only 3 exercises what would they be and why?

Squats – best for booty gains, Deadlifts – best for strengthening your back, Pushups / Pullups – best to bulid your strength. I also love Burpess 

What is your diet like?

I am not so great at controlling my diet. I wish I could cos then I could have seen better results so I try & eat clean Mon – Thurs but weekends are for sins….I don’t believe in eradicating any food group so yeah I do eat carbs with my proteins.

What’s the one food you couldn’t live without, and how do you handle food cravings?

Eggs. I love them in all forms except poached. I give in to my cravings sometimes.. Cmon YOLO 

What’s something not many people know about you?

I have a weakness for Tiramisus. If it’s on the menu, its on my plate.
