How did you get started?
I have always loved the idea of being fit, I had been into various sports but after I started working everything came to a hault and that’s when I decided to join a gym, I was just slightly underweight and wanted to get some physical activity on the go.
Where does your motivation come from?
After I started working out I was able to see my body change and respond to what I am doing . And that was the time I decided to take things a bit more seriously Now obviously I have my idols in the industry but I always aim to be better than what I used to be . I strongly feel the goals have to be realistic.
How do you feel your flexibility helps you both in and out of the gym?
Going to the gym has given me a control and discipline over life . I am no longer a slave of my cravings or binge eating . I always have a control on what I am doing. I am a Mother , have a fulltime job and minimum house help . all that I can manage along with being fit has come from the confidence I got from there.
What workout routine has worked best for you?
I have experimented with almost everything ,just being on cardio , cardio + strength training ,only strength training . What has turned out the best for me is a combination of strength training along with cardio. I do compound exercises twice a week which involves full body weight workouts within time intervals (HIIT), 10-20 min max . Along with hardcore strength training which involves 3 sets and 7 variations of every muscle , targeting one muscle a day Ab routine is slightly different I do core twice a week and also combine HIIT to it . My schedule keeps changing every 3 months depending upon the goals and how my body is responding to it.
If you had to pick only 3 exercises what would they be and why?
Squats – Simple fact “ You can never go wrong with squats”. I simply hate doing squats but love how they entirely work on quads and glutes at the same time and increase over all strength .I make sure I do them heavy in my every leg routine.
Deadlift : For a flat straight body I had , deadlifts have turned the picture for me and helped me to attain a smaller waist with a good curve Not to forget , I got rid of my post c section back pain just because of deadlifting heavy, it really works wonders for your lower back muscles and strengthens the spine. Pull ups : The traditional and best ever way to work on your upper body lats , bicep , shoulders every muscle is in movement and you get the best out of just one exercise.
What is your diet like?
I am on a cyclic ketogenic diet at the moment CKD , where I eat fats and proteins with less than 20 carbs per day and have two re feed days a week where I load on good healthy carbs with minimum fats. No Sugar and dairy . When not on a specific diet I am a flexible eater , mostly prefer home cooked food with balanced carbs and high protein with healthy fats, and cheat on one whole day a week . though its always under the calorie goal for the day.
What’s the one food you couldn’t live without, and how do you handle food cravings?
Briyani !Grilled chicken , shami kebab I love them all . I just love food , it keeps me happy ! I can never have enough and I make sure I have any of it once-twice a week , to manage the calorie goal I keep a watch over the quantity. And pair it with yogurt and salad to keep it balanced .When I have cravings that I can’t control I would have a little and not stress over it , Balance is the key for me. Well mostly I try to keep snacking healthy it keeps me full and ignore cravings.Always stock on healthy snacks like nuts , fruits, greek yogurt , peanut butter.
What’s something not many people know about you?
That it was not easy for me to reach here . Just because I was skinny people think It came easier to me , I have been skinny and fat too so I had to sort of manage both the struggles.
