How did you get started?

I was never really conscious about my weight. I was fine being chubby. But everything changed when I started falling sick regularly. When I visited the doctor, he ran some tests and the results were disturbing. My cholesterol level was abnormal and I was only 25. That was a turning point for me. I knew I had to change my lazy lifestyle into a healthy one. It was then I decided to join a gym.

Where does your motivation come from?

It may seem odd but my motivation comes from the weighing machine. I weigh myself every week and keep a note of my weight. When you do that your mind and body stops you from eating excessively and motivates you to train regularly because you know you have to get on top of the scale every Monday morning and make sure you either decrease or maintain a steady and consistent number every week.

How do you feel your flexibility helps you both in and out of the gym

Like I stated in my previous answer, I started training mostly due to health issues. Because of it my body is stronger now which is a plus point both in and out of the gym. I am able to enjoy adventurous sports without falling sick every time. My immune system has never been this strong and my cholesterol level as well as other health parameters are back on track.

What workout routine has worked best for you?

Weight training. It is an absurd myth that lifting weights make women bulky. Women don’t produce enough testosterone to bulk up like men unless it is purposely induced into the body. With the correct form and technique and a clean diet lifting weights does not only help in losing weight but it also gives the body a toned and shapely look. Cardio is also no doubt a prime factor in cutting down fats. But a combination of both would result in a better and more appealing result.

If you had to pick only 3 exercises what would they be and why?

Firstly, Bar squats (3 sets × 15 reps) Weights according to one’s strength and capacity. This results in toned thighs and a tight and shapely butt which is an important factor for most women. Secondly, Burpees (3 sets x 20 reps). This helps in strength building and helps in burning fats fast. Lastly, the famous Russian Twist (3 sets x 15 reps) for a flat stomach and rock hard abs.

What is your diet like?

6 healthy and small proportioned meals throughout the day. This includes oats, sprouts, boiled chicken, egg whites and lots of fruits. A maximum of just two small cheat meals a week.

What’s the one food you couldn’t live without, and how do you handle food cravings?

Pasta was the one food I couldn’t live without. Hence my weekly cheat meal would always be Pasta in White Sauce. I would curb my cravings by carrying small snacks with me everywhere I go. Snacks include sprouts, chopped watermelons, soaked grams and sliced apples.

What’s something not many people know about you?

I love reading. I usually carry a novel around with me just in case I can squeeze in some reading time during my usual everyday schedule.
