How did you get started?
I’ve been working out since I was 13. My dad was very active. He swam, ran and played squash. I used to go to the gym with him and swim until I was old enough to go into the workout room with him.
Where does your motivation come from?
My motivation comes from a few different sources. Firstly I have a 5 year old son who is very active. I want be a healthy happy mother for him for a long time to come. I love to challenge myself. I see people do these amazing things online and I think I want to be able to do that. I want to remain active and fit my whole life. I imagine myself at 80 with abs. Being out of shape is just not an option.
How do you feel your flexibility helps you both in and out of the gym?
I used to teach yoga so I know the importance flexibility plays for long term health. In the gym it allows me to do a wide range of exercise. I don’t like to just use stationary machines. Sometimes I do HIIT and plyometric type workouts. Being flexible reduces my changes of injury. At home it allows me to be an active/agile mother, increases my range of motion and generally feel good and able
What workout routine has worked best for you?
I really like HIIT/plyometric style work outs. It keeps my body guessing and the workouts interesting
If you had to pick only 3 exercises what would they be and why?
Skipping, squats, 1 arm plank legs balancing on a balance ball
What is your diet like?
I eat seafood but no meat or dairy. Lots of veggies and water. I give myself one cheat day/ meal.
What’s the one food you couldn’t live without, and how do you handle food cravings?
I absolutely love chocolate. Now I only eat dairy fee chocolate. I handle my cravings by eating sweets once a week. Sure I crave during the week but I tell myself in a few days I can without feel guilty
What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger
