Weight since 4 years: 60kg
Height: 5’9 inches
How did you get started?
I was into athletics and Kathak since i was 3. Eventually because of school and exams I lost contact with all kinds of physical activities. Getting into the sciences and eventually ending up in a medical field in physiotherapy is mentally demanding. It is easier to come back home hit the bed and rest. But that’s where the fitness goes down. Keen on taking up fitness in physiotherapy I had to stay fit myself And be athletic to help excel in my profession. How am I supposed to treat a runner when I myself cannot run a basic 5 km.
Where does your motivation come from?
My motivation comes from my field where I have seen and read about people who were once physically challenged and now in great form performing various sports in the para olympics using prosthetics and other aids. Its a treat to see them perform better than the ones who are physically capable. Makes me wonder why do I have to sit and warm the couch when I have all four limbs intact!
How do you feel your flexibility helps you both in and out of the gym?
Strength, endurance, body composition , flexibility, balance and agility are the components of fitness. And they are interconnected! Flexibility is important because we get complete ranges in our daily exercise routines! Also helps prevent injuries. In daily life people end up injuring themselves by performing activities of daily living all wrong and ending up with back pain, knee pain and so on.
What workout routine has worked best for you?
For me yoga has worked the best! Keeps me grounded and gives me a lot of peace. Gives me the necessary mental and physical strength and balance and a lot of range of motion.
If you had to pick only 3 exercises what would they be and why?
1. I just love doing legs at the gym.
2. Love stretching
3. And I’m starting to like running as well! So you see ! It involves a little of everything but is everything I actually do!
What is your diet like?
My diet involves everything. What I do for my diet is I eat at regular intervals, small portions just enough to kill the hunger, eat often, never over eat and eat my dinner early. Drink a lot of fluids and munch a lot of fibre !
What’s the one food you couldn’t live without, and how do you handle food cravings?
One food I cannot live without is processed cheese , which is very bad for health! I have started to replace it with unprocessed cheddar. Equally tasty but healthy as well! Sometimes I binge eat and eat a lot of sweets! For that all I have to do is punish myself and do an extra set of exercises.
What’s something not many people know about you?
Not many people know that I’m very lazy and I have to really push myself hard to hit the gym or the road to run. Sometimes I have to see great female bodies and transformations to help me get out of the bed and get going. Most of the times am a fitness addict and sometimes I’m just a couch warmer. Sometimes when I’m depressed I stretch and that makes me very happy!
The biggest resistance to your body is your own body. Not competing with anyone else but overcoming your own boundaries makes u stronger! Cheers !
